What is a case converter?

Programming languages and tools use different naming conventions: camelCase in JavaScript, snake_case in Python and databases, kebab-case in URLs and CSS, and CONSTANT_CASE for environment variables. This tool detects word boundaries and converts between all of them.

Features

  • • 14 formats including camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case
  • • Smart word splitting for acronyms like XMLHttpRequest
  • • Unicode support for accented and non-Latin letters
  • • Line-by-line conversion for lists

Private & fast

Text is converted instantly in your browser without any server requests.

No data leaves your device.

How to use the Case Converter

  1. 1

Type or paste text, variable names or a list into the input. You can mix styles: userProfile, user_profile and "User Profile" are all understood as the same words.

  2. 2

Every format appears at once: camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, CONSTANT_CASE, kebab-case, Train-Case, dot.case, path/case, Title Case, Sentence case, lower, UPPER and more.

  3. 3

Each line is converted separately, so a list of 50 field names becomes 50 converted names in the same order.

  4. 4

Click Copy on the format you need and paste it into your code, database schema or document.

Practical examples

Mapping API fields to code

A REST API returns created_at and user_id, but your TypeScript models use camelCase. Paste the field list and copy createdAt and userId in one go.

Naming constants and environment variables

Turn "max upload size" into MAX_UPLOAD_SIZE for an environment variable or a constant without retyping it.

CSS classes and URLs

kebab-case is the convention for CSS class names, file names in many front-end projects and URL paths, for example "Primary Button" becomes primary-button.

Headings and titles

Fix headings typed in all caps or all lowercase by converting them to Title Case or Sentence case before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Which case should I use for what?+

Common conventions: camelCase for JavaScript and Java variables, PascalCase for classes and React components, snake_case for Python and SQL columns, CONSTANT_CASE for constants and environment variables, kebab-case for CSS and URLs.

How are words detected?+

The converter splits on spaces, hyphens, underscores, dots and slashes, and also between a lowercase and an uppercase letter, so XMLHttpRequest becomes XML, Http and Request.

What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?+

Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word ("Release Notes For Version 2"). Sentence case capitalizes only the first word, like a normal sentence ("Release notes for version 2").

Does it work with accented and non-Latin letters?+

Yes. Letters such as é, ü, ữ or Cyrillic are kept and their case is changed correctly. Scripts without upper and lower case, like Chinese or Thai, are kept as they are.
